Oppo is part of the Chinese conglomerate BBK Electronics, which controls several companies in the technology market. Other subsidiary cellphone manufacturers of the group are Vivo and OnePlus.
The company also used to control the Realme cellphone brand, but in 2018 the division spun off and became a separate business, still under the umbrella of BBK Electronics.
The manufacturer has also established itself as one of the world’s top smartphone makers. According to the IDC consultancy, Oppo was positioned as the 5th company that sold the most cell phones worldwide in August 2022, behind only Samsung, Apple, and Xiaomi and almost tied with Vivo.
Oppo operates in over 60 countries. In 2022, the company made its arrival in the Brazilian market official with the launch of the Reno 7 smartphone. The brand has been operating in Latin America since 2019.
